1. Follow all practices in Code of Safe Practice #5 Power Tools.
2. Always wear appropriate PPE (safety eyewear, hearing protection, etc.).
3. Ensure all guards are in place prior to using power tools. Never wedge guards open or remove guards.
4. Check your working materials carefully before proceeding. Make sure there are no nails, bolts or flaws before you cut materials with the saw.
5. Keep your hands and all body parts out of the path of the saw blade.
6. Stand to one side, not in line with the saw blade when using a circular saw.
7. Always be cautions for kickbacks.
8. Ensure that the material being cut is secured to prevent slippage or falling.
9. Do not touch the blade after cutting. Allow time for it to cool down.
10. Use the appropriate blade for the material that is being cut.
11. Make sure the power cords is out of the cutting path of the saw.
12. Be aware that the saw blade extends below the cutting surface. Check below the work surface for proper clearance and to ensure that the saw does not strike the workbench power cord, your co workers or yourself.
13. Don't cut material unless it is properly supported. Do not support it with your hand or arm and not against your knee or foot. Do not cut any material next to your body.
14. Make all adjustments with the saw’s power off. Disconnect the power when changing blades.
15. Do not leave the saw unattended while it is running. Leave only after the saw has been turned off and it has come to a complete stop.
