Training is one of the most essential elements of a safe and healthy workplace. All employees should have received appropriate training to ensure that assigned work is performed in a safe manner. Training may include formal courses, as well as, on the job instruction by a supervisor, HOD or other knowledgeable production representative. When a certain task requires specialized safety training, the production may need to provide for the necessary external training.
HODs / supervisors should ensure that all employees in their departments have the appropriate level of training necessary for the tasks that they perform. In addition, HODs / supervisors should ensure that the person performing assigned work is made aware of, understands, and follows all necessary proper safe work practices.
All production employees should be properly trained to operate any equipment they utilize, such as aerial lifts, cranes, forklifts, fall protection equipment, etc. The production should obtain copies of training certifications for employees utilizing these types of equipment. It may be necessary for the production to conduct additional training sessions to ensure that all employees operating these types of machinery are properly trained.
Written General Safety Guidelines for Production (Form 1) should be distributed to every cast and crew member as they are hired. This form may be incorporated into the production’s start paperwork package. The Acknowledgement Form should be signed by the employee, returned to the POC and uploaded to Prodicle.
